Kayla
Kayla is the brains of the gang.
She always has a plan.
She loves playing video games with her best friends Malaya and Lottie.
And tries to keep her younger brother Dylan out of trouble.

DYLAN
Dylan is confident, brave and fearless.
He thinks he’s the best at everything.
He gets into trouble with his big sister Kayla.
He loves playing with his best friends Omari and Philip.

Mummy
Mummy is the heart of Day Street.
She works at a school.
Mummy’s parents are from the Caribbean.
Loves to cook and make things with the kids.
She loves to dance and sing.

DADDY
Daddy is a bit of a nerd
Daddy loves to work on his computer.
Daddy’s parents are from Africa.
He loves spicy food.
His favourite food is pounded yam and egusi soup.
He likes to play games with the kids.

Philip
Is a real talker.
He can talk for days.
He wants to be rich when he grows up.
And is always trying to sell stuff like sweets to make some extra money.
His best friends are Dylan and Omari.

OMARI
Omari tries his best to be brave, but sometimes gets scared.
His best friends are Dylan and Philip.
He LOVES food.
And is always the first to ask,
‘Is it snack time yet?’

Lottie is best friends with Kayla and Malaya.
Lottie is sporty and dreams of playing football for England one day.

She loves looking good and wearing stylish clothes.
She dreams of being a YouTube star when she grows up.

Monster roams around Day Street
at night trying to scare the kids.
Is he real or imaginary?
No one really knows.
He thinks he’s scary,
but ‘we’re not scared of monsters’.

Day Street was created by husband and wife Eric and Vanessa Dyson.

We were looking for content to show our own children, and saw that there was a lack of content that represented families like ours. So we decided to create our own show.

Yes. All the characters (except Monster) are based on our own family members and friends - who also provide the voices.

Eric does the animation.

Eric produces all the music and co-writes the lyrics with Vanessa.
